Call for Application-Himalayan Climate Boot Camp 2024

We are seeking participants for Himalayan Climate Boot Camp 2024, taking place at the Pyramid Laboratory and observatory/ Everest Base Camp from May 02 to 13, 2024. This boot camp is designed to equip the selected Science journalists from SAARC countries with advanced science reporting skills, enabling them to cover climate stories with evidence-based precision. Participants will also gain access to a web-based platform for sharing a minimum of two multimedia climate stories.

Eligibility Criteria :

• Applicants must possess 3-5 years of experience in environment or climate science reporting.
• Applicants must furnish a letter of support from the editor of a news outlet (print, audio, audio-visual, or website) willing to publish their stories generated from the boot camp.
• Participants should be physically capable of walking several hours daily in the mountainous terrain of the Everest region while carrying some weight.
• Science and climate journalists from SAARC countries are eligible to apply.

The Boot Camp receives support from the Spark Grant Initiative. Journalists from SAARC countries who are keen to participate are asked to submit a brief letter of motivation, no longer than 300 words, detailing their reasons for wanting to join the boot camp by March 30, 2024.

The organizers will cover travel and accommodation expenses for the selected journalists.
