Call for Application: Multimedia Storytelling Workshop for the Journalists
Applications are now open for a five-day Multimedia Storytelling workshop for the journalists, scheduled to take place in Helambu, Sindhupalchowk from February 29 to March 4, 2024. This workshop is designed to equip journalists with advanced multimedia storytelling skills focused on providing evidence-based coverage of climate and environmental issues. Selected participants will be expected to publish at least two multimedia stories on climate and environmental topics by July 15, 2024.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Possess 3-5 years of experience in environment or climate science reporting.
- Be capable of traveling to the Helambu region and comfortable enough to spend the workshop duration there.
- Provide a letter of support from the editor of a news outlet (print, audio, audio-visual, website) willing to publish their workshop-generated stories.
This workshop is organized by the Nepal Forum of Science Journalists (NFSJ) with the support of the US Embassy in Kathmandu. Preference will be given to journalists from the Bagmati Province. Interested candidates should submit a brief letter of motivation, not exceeding 300 words, explaining why they wish to participate in the workshop to nfsj.nepal@gmail.com by February 16, 2024.
Travel and accommodation expenses for selected applicants will be covered by the organizer. Following the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to collaborate with assigned mentors and engage in follow-up virtual meetings.
